I know what you're thinking
Planning a trip to Alaska is overwhelming
There isn’t just one “right” way to visit Alaska. You can cruise, rent a car, travel by RV. You can spend every night in a different town…or choose just a handful of places.
And that’s exactly what makes planning Alaska so overwhelming.
There are thousands of blogs and YouTube videos, endless Facebook recommendations where everyone says something different.
So instead of getting more excited…you end up with twenty browser tabs open and no idea what you should actually prioritize.
That’s where I come in.
Hi, I'm Kelsey
I’ve called Alaska home for almost a decade, and I’ve spent that time exploring as much of this incredible state as I possibly can.
Whenever friends or family tell me they’re planning a trip here, they all ask me the same questions:
- “What’s the best way to see Alaska?”
- “Is Denali worth it?”
- “Do we need an RV?”
- “How many days do we need?”
Eventually I realized I was giving the same advice over and over again.
So I decided to put everything I tell people into one easy-to-follow guide.

Helping travelers plan Alaska with confidence
I am a born and raised Alaskan who has spent all but 10 years of my life as a resident here and this was still super helpful and informative to me! I love the Alaskan lingo, pros and cons to seeing Alaska different ways and suggested itinerary. So thorough and well done but not overwhelming!
— Jamie C.
This book was just what we needed to plan our family trip to Alaska this summer! We are doing a road trip, so I loved the suggestions for stops along the way. I also love the town profiles and it helped me decide which towns to include in our trip. Would definitely recommend for anyone traveling to Alaska!
— Kate B.
This book is amazing! As someone who was born and raised here, Kelsey captured the perfect places for visitors to check out and get the most out of our giant state.
I loved the Alaskan code words. I thought that was so unexpected but fun and unlike any guidebook. I will be recommending this to all of my out of state brides!
— Kasara B.

— Joan D.
When my wife and I travel anywhere we always want to find a local for recommendations on restaurants, exploring, ect. This book is perfect for that more a authentic experience before even arriving.
— Clayton S.
The most helpful thing I learned would probably have to be near the ending of the books like the things that I would need to pack and probably the fishing license, that really took some things off my plate and would definitely make the planning of the trip go smoother. Something that surprised me in the book is how much it actually did make things easier on me for planning towards this trip and how much information there was and pros and cons there were towards certain things, it really helped to see it already drawn out compared to me, looking for those answers myself. Your book has already saved me sleepless nights of figuring out how I would make an itinerary when I’m not even physically there to see my surroundings and know what’s where. So far my favorite part of the book would have to be what the book is about and how it would help people like me save so much time and get a better understanding of trip planning, not even for Alaska alone. I would 10/10 recommend this book!
— Camryn C.
A very well written book giving tons of great information for anyone visiting Alaska. Highly recommend.
— Ethan C.
My favorite thing to do when visiting a new place is talk to someone who lives there or knows it well. I want to experience the area the way locals do, not just hit the typical tourist spots. This book offers exactly that: an authentic, local perspective on the best things to do and places to visit. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to experience a destination beyond the usual tourist recommendations!
— Colten S.
Absolutely loved all the recommendations. It’s organized thoughtfully and fun to read through.
— Kiley R.
I thought this guide was well written and packed with valuable information. I hope to include it in my home rentals for tourists that visit this great state!

I wanted this guide to be practical—not overwhelming.
Every page is designed to help you make decisions faster, whether you’re choosing your route, comparing destinations, or figuring out what to pack.
Simple. Visual. Easy to reference while you’re planning.
your alaska trip: sorted.
This isn’t another guide trying to show you everything Alaska has to offer.
There are thousands of incredible places to explore in Alaska.
And if you tried to see them all, you’d need months (or years!)—not one vacation.
That’s why this guide is different.
Instead of overwhelming you with endless options…
I’ve narrowed everything down to the places, experiences, and routes that I consistently recommend to friends and family when they ask me how to plan their trip.
You’ll learn what deserves a spot on your itinerary and what can probably wait until your second visit.
Because yes—there’s a good chance you’ll already be planning your next trip before you leave.
If you only remember one thing...
You don't have to see everything to have an unforgettable Alaska trip.
One of the biggest mistakes visitors make is trying to squeeze every destination into one vacation.
More driving. More rushing. Less actually experiencing Alaska.
Some of my favorite memories happened because I slowed down.
Stayed an extra night. Took the scenic route. Or spent an afternoon somewhere that wasn’t even on my original plan.
This guide will help you prioritize the experiences you’ll remember—not just the places you’ll check off a list.
You’ll probably spend thousands of dollars on flights, hotels, rental cars, and excursions.
Spending $27 to make sure you prioritize the right destinations, avoid common mistakes, and save hours of planning is one of the smallest, and smartest, investments you’ll make for your trip.
