a little bit about me

Hi, I’m Kelsey! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I live in Alaska and love the abundance of the land here and slower pace of living. My favorite things in life are the simple things – digging in the dirt, exploring, reading a good book, and making delicious food from scratch.

My husband and I pursue living a simple life in Alaska. We aren’t off grid. We aren’t living zero waste. We are just a normal couple that seeks to be more self sufficient.

My goal is to share the beauty of Alaska and encourage you to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.

If you follow along you can expect to see everything from growing food, processing game meat, from-scratch recipes, tips on staying well and more!

The Dutch word gezellig doesn’t have a perfect English translation.

It encompasses cozy, friendly, comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable, and gregarious.

Gezellig is what I want you to feel whether you are stepping into my real home – or this virtual one.
